Why feminine creativity and soul is such a healing balm for these 3 types of women
A few years ago, I wrote an post called ‘Which of these three feminine expressions are you currently in?’ Over time, having deepened my knowledge of the women who are drawn to my work, I wanted to create a new post about the three most common experiences/self-perceptions/patterns that I see in the women I work with- and why feminine healing, creativity and soul serves as such a healing balm for their hearts, their lives and their creative work.
(You may see yourself clearly in one of these, or, as is often the case, in a nuanced mix of all three)
1. The woman who has experienced harsh, critical or hyper-masculinised environments, where there was a strong focus on outer performance, very logical, mind-based achievement and ‘how things look’- often at the expense of how she feels and what her heart longs for.
Whether through parenting, school or work environments, she has grown to believe that she is not fully deserving of gentleness, care, grace and the authentic love that accepts her for who she is. She has been taught to heavily develop and idealise the masculinised aspects of self and life, while diminishing her feminine core. She feels overly responsible for managing the emotions of others, and often feels a sense of being heavy or burdened, where she cannot rest in a lighter, more restful path. She protects her inner essence through putting on protective masks of performance, capability and hyper-independence- yet at her core there is a deeply sensitive, feminine heart, wanting to feel enough in her softer, unencumbered self.
The nature she is reclaiming through feminine healing, creativity and soul: She holds a deep sense of compassion and natural understanding for others, as she has had to actively reclaim the emotional care and softness that she was often not afforded in her formative life. She realises that what may look good to others, is not always what is best for her, and she begins creating a life that truly nourishes her heart. She allows herself to drop the responsibility of managing the energies of others, and learns to feel and know her own energy, her own desires, her own Being. Her protective masks and masculinised shields are gently released, as her heart organically unfurls to receive the grace, ease, gentleness and love that is her birthright. She validates the depth, vulnerability and heart that she was taught to push down, and invites in a lightness and sense of ease that is deeply healing to her soul.
2. The woman who feels at odds with the normalised ways of the world because she feels too sensitive, too spiritual, too slow-moving, too lacking in ambition.
She has derided herself for not being ‘enough’ and is not sure where she fits in within the world, or what her purpose is here. She feels flowy, watery, vulnerable and deep, and often feels dominated/over powered (and even unconsciously victimised) by the masculinised culture that she lives in. She has not been taught that her feminine self is valuable and must be honoured and tended to. As a result, she does not feel safe to be herself in the world and express the gifts of her heart. She does not yet see the true power of her feminine nature, and instead feels a push-pull between withdrawing from life because of overwhelm and discouragement, and trying to fix, improve and ‘overcome’ herself so she can figure out how to make her way and succeed in the world.
The nature she is reclaiming through feminine healing, creativity and soul: She realises that she does not need to change and fix herself to meet the material and masculinised ideals, ways and pace that have dominated her experiences and environments. Instead, she truly deepens into her feminine power, where her softness, her spirituality, her depth and her heart are gifts that must be nurtured and reclaimed, not pushed down. She stops comparing herself to masculinised ideals and the normalised, striving pace of culture, and instead wholeheartedly embraces the slow and steady bloom of her soul. She stands unapologetically in her own heart and her own path, not fighting against what is, but instead deepening into her creational power and allowing her unique song of soul to arise. She stops tethering herself to dominating forces of fear, lack and artificiality, and instead comes to rest in herself- her own heart nestled within the heart of God, as she allows who she is and what she does to flow from the waters of grace and love.
3. The creative, emotionally-attuned woman seeking a deeper purpose in her work/career/expression.
Often, she has been trying to figure out her work, her purpose, her path, through the lens of what has been collectively regarded as profitable, acceptable and rational. In this, she unconsciously believes she must replicate rigid roles, career paths, or replicate information rather than birthing the truth of her own heart and soul. She has no clear, mapped out, external path to follow, because she is actually longing to create something from her creational, feminine soul, not from her conditioned beliefs and the outer benchmarks of achievement she has been told are ‘the way.’ She finds herself no longer feeling aligned with the career/work/business structures and expectations of her past, yet is uncertain as to where she now fits in. She often feels in a seeming void, where she is shedding the old, but not quite sure of where and how she should focus her gifts, knowledge and creative heart.
The nature she is reclaiming through feminine healing, creativity and soul: She stops trying to figure it all out, and relaxes into her heart, her body and her inspiration. She walks with the grace of a woman who does not need to know it all, instead taking gentle steps towards her intuitive guidance. She realises that any voices of fear and lack (inner and outer) are those that are trying to keep her safe in the past- so rather than ignoring or overriding these voices, she tenderly sees them for the protectors they are. She moves at her own pace, in her own way, not feeling any pressure to prove herself against old paradigms, but finding joy and peace in her own path of heart. She embraces her nature as bridge between the old and new, realising that although the creative path may come with a layer of uncertainty and self doubt, this is also an indication that she is activating her creational, soul nature and moving deeper into her gifts and her heart.
